Chinese County Hospital Performs Nation's First BCI Implant at County Level
Dong'e County People's Hospital in eastern China's Shandong province performed a brain-computer interface implant on September 15, 2026, the country's first such procedure at a county-level hospital. The approved system records and decodes brain signals through an epidural implant to control assistive devices. The hospital had previously combined neurology and neurosurgery into a neuroscience center.
