BCIwiki (bciwiki.com) — On June 18, 2026, eight Chinese ministries jointly issued a policy document titled Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of AI Plus Consumption. The document was jointly issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
In promoting smart consumer product innovation, the document calls for advancing the integration of artificial intelligence with brain-computer interface, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies, and developing a batch of new products.
This marks the first time a central government departmental policy document has explicitly included brain-computer interface technology within the AI consumer application framework, signalling a clear policy position for BCI technology in China's national consumption upgrade strategy.
