Precision Neuroscience Raises $250M Series D

Summary Precision Neuroscience closed an oversubscribed $250 million Series D co-led by Pershing Square Inc., the Ackman Oxman Institute and an undisclosed life sciences fund, bringing its total raised since 2021 to $430 million. The company says it has completed more than 100 patient procedures at 18 medical institutions and holds FDA clearance for its Layer 7 Cortical Interface, a thin-film electrode array placed on the brain surface. It plans to use the money to expand clinical work, move Layer 7 through the next stages of FDA review and build out commercialization.
Why it matters A $250 million round is among the larger single raises in BCI, with backers ranging from sovereign funds to public-market investors. Precision bets on a minimally invasive, removable surface array rather than intracortical implants; its Layer 7 has FDA clearance, but further stages of FDA review still lie ahead.

BCIwiki (bciwiki.com) — Precision Neuroscience has closed an oversubscribed $250 million Series D financing round, bringing its total capital raised since its founding in 2021 to $430 million, the brain-computer interface (BCI) company announced on September 24, 2026. Pershing Square Inc., the Ackman Oxman Institute and an undisclosed leading life sciences investment fund co-led the round, with participation from the Duquesne Family Office, B Capital, ARK Invest, Invus, Mubadala Capital, Mirae Asset Capital, Korea Investment Partners, Hitachi Ventures, JSL Health Capital and others.

Precision said it has completed more than 100 patient procedures across 18 major medical institutions, including the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago Medicine, the Mount Sinai Health System and West Virginia University's Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Its Layer 7 Cortical Interface, a thin-film electrode array placed on the brain surface, has received FDA clearance. The company also cited high-resolution neural recording across 4,096 electrodes, real-time decoding of intended movement, a commercial partnership with Medtronic and a wholly owned MEMS manufacturing facility in Texas.

The company plans to use the proceeds to expand its clinical program, advance Layer 7 through the next stages of FDA review and build infrastructure for commercialization. 'We have built the clinical network, regulatory position, and manufacturing base that leadership in this field requires,' said Michael Mager, Precision's co-founder and CEO. Bill Ackman, CEO of Pershing Square and co-founder of the Ackman Oxman Institute, said neurotechnology 'will be central to the next generation of cures, treatments, and rehabilitation.'

According to the company, Layer 7's performance has been supported by peer-reviewed research, including a study in Nature Biomedical Engineering and clinical work with Johns Hopkins University, while a University of Pennsylvania study used Layer 7 recordings to produce a refined map of the human motor cortex. In July, Precision named BrainGate founder John Donoghue as a scientific advisor.
