NeuroXess reported that two people with high-level paralysis played a brain-controlled chess game about 800 km apart between Shanghai and Nanchang using its self-developed 'Sanquan' BCI system: the participant in Shanghai selected and moved pieces on a virtual board via brain control, with commands transmitted in real time to drive a small robot in Nanchang, while the participant in Nanchang grasped physical pieces with a brain-controlled exoskeleton glove.
According to the company, the first implanted participant received surgery at Huashan Hospital of Fudan University in October 2025, achieved brain-controlled cursor control on day 5 after surgery and reached a 5.2 BPS control rate after 17 days of training; the second participant was implanted in December 2025 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University and could eat, drink and write with brain-controlled exoskeleton assistance one month after implantation.
