LibriBrain100, a magnetoencephalography (MEG) dataset released on August 25, 2026, contains more than 100 hours of high-quality recordings, about 80 of them from a single subject, the deepest within-subject collection of its kind. It is meant as a standardized benchmark for neural speech decoding and ships with open-source tooling and an online competition; a further 32 subjects contribute roughly 40 minutes each to offset thin per-subject data. Using an existing decoding model, the team reported state-of-the-art results on a word-classification benchmark, which it takes as evidence of both data quality and the value of deep within-subject recording.

Eleven Chinese provincial-level jurisdictions had published prices for brain-computer interface medical services. The invasive implantation fee runs from RMB 4,389 at the lowest hospital tier in Sichuan to RMB 7,980 in Beijing (approx. $650 to $1,180 at RMB 6.74 to the dollar, the mid-August 2026 rate), and the non-invasive fitting fee from RMB 643 to 990. Sichuan, Hainan, Qinghai and Xinjiang tier prices by hospital grade, Shanghai leaves the amount to each hospital, and Jiangsu's three figures appear only in a July 2025 draft. Beijing lists all three fees as Class A at four named hospitals; Zhejiang covers the fitting fee as Class B, limited to prosthetic fitting. Sichuan, Jiangxi, Hainan, Qinghai and Xinjiang assign Class C, Shanghai excludes the fees, and Hubei and Guangdong have prices without a coverage decision.

NIRx Medical Technologies and Artinis Medical Systems, the Dutch fNIRS pioneer, have formed a strategic partnership backed by healthcare investor Gilde Healthcare to speed innovation and broader adoption of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) brain imaging. Both companies keep their own brands and operating locations while combining R&D and commercial scale, and leadership is unchanged, with Dr. Patrick Britz remaining chief executive of NIRx and Dr. Willy Colier chief executive of Artinis.

Burning mouth syndrome produces months or years of burning oral pain with no visible lesion on examination, and treatment options are limited, leaving patients shuttling between oral medicine and psychiatry. A randomized, sham-controlled interventional trial registered by Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai JiaoTong University School of Medicine, will apply transcranial direct current stimulation over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex while collecting resting-state brain function and structural imaging, tracking pain, anxiety, depression, sleep and salivary flow. The trial is funded by the hospital's Brain-Computer Interface Special Research Program and registered as ChiCTR2600124987 on May 20, 2026. It plans to enroll 38 participants, 19 in the active group and 19 in the sham group, with first enrollment set for June 1, 2026; recruitment has not yet started.

Tongji Hospital in Wuhan implanted a 64-channel high-throughput flexible electrode array made by Wuhan Neuracom into a 31-year-old man paralysed by a spinal cord injury on 26 November 2025. The procedure was charged under the country's first BCI medical service price schedule, issued by Hubei's healthcare security bureau in March 2025, which sets implantation at 6,552 yuan. China's National Healthcare Security Administration calls it the first BCI operation in the country carried out under a state-set price. This patient's costs were covered by research funding.
